He and drummer Steve Smith have played together in various bands since the 1980's, and their vocal harmonies are a hallmark of the band. Jackie Crosby brought a blues and country-swing sensibility to Chemistry Set when she joined in 2010.  "Grit," the band's third record, was released in 2015. Chemistry Set is currently at work on a new studio album and a live recording, both scheduled for release in 2017. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
