As a member of The Farm on St. Mathias CSA, I will receive a weekly share of vegetables consisting of six to ten items. The shares will vary in weight and size depending on the season. Being a member means being a “farming partner” – thereby sharing the inherent risks of agriculture (poor weather, drought, disease, early frosts, pests, crop failure) and the rewards (bounty from a good season) involved in farming. The Farm on St. Mathias plans for such contingencies and uses growing techniques that try to protect the harvest such as growing a wide variety of crops that thrive in different conditions, cover cropping, crop rotation, irrigation, etc. The Farm on St. Mathias strives for trust relationships between the farmer and the community. On the whole, members will receive a variety of vegetables, biweekly eggs, dry goods and other goods produced by local farmers. Therefore, I agree with the principle listed above. By participating in The Farm on St. Mathias CSA, I understand that not only am I supporting the local farmer, I am supporting locally grown, sustainable fruits and vegetables, a more equitable food distribution system and I am contributing to a more environmentally sound and economically fair and healthy society.

I understand that a share for the 2008 season costs $480.00 and consists of a basket containing six to ten items, biweekly eggs, and supplements as the season indicates. As a member, I commit myself to timely payments and a commitment to pick up my share at the agreed upon site. I understand that if I do not make arrangements by calling within 24 hours of pick up, my share for that week will be forfeited and donated to the local food shelf, soup kitchen or a family in need.
